My Birthday Wish List

September 24, 2018

This year, I shall have a proper birthday. Meaning, I am not going to let my birthday be completely and totally eclipsed by Coco's birthday. Coco was born two days after the day I turned 32 and I have not really had a birthday ever since! I mean, I have. Of course it didn't go by with nothing, but it has always felt like an afterthought and been a bit disappointing since she was born. So, not this year!

I gave J a wish list with all of this fabulous stuff and I ordered a present for myself from the kids already. It's going to be a good one. ;) Here's what I'm after this year and why, clockwise spiral from top left:

Ray-Ban Cats 5000 Pilot Sunglasses because they're so timeless and edgy. I've been wanting these for years and I realized that the last time I bought a nice pair of sunglasses was in 2012. So, bring 'em on!  I have another pair of Cats 5000 that I got while I was pregnant on a trip to Greece. I fell in love with them on the spot and didn't give it one second thought! But they're really wild. (About half way down in this post. So me, but definitely not everyday shades;) The tortoise is so classy even though the sunglasses themselves are pretty bold. Perfect for any occasion!

Laura Mercier Face Illuminator in Inspiration is technically a highlighter, but it's deep and dark enough to be a really shimmery blush for me and I'm totally smitten with it. I wore it for a day last week and every time I caught my reflection in our living room mirror, I loved how radiant and rosy I looked. Definitely a must have. Bonus - if you purchase during the month of September, proceeds are donated to the Laura Mercier Ovarian Cancer Fund.

Herschel Supply Co. Little America Backpack has a laptop sleeve and padded straps, which are just perfect for schlepping around my computer and giant grad school textbooks now that I'm a student again! I've been using an old Eena tote, which I adore, but my arms and back are not happy about it. This would be a vast improvement.

Sorel Lexie Wedge Boots are waterproof and would look so adorable with my green rain jacket and stripey scarves. I mean, when you live in the PNW and deal with some serious weather for about half of the year, can you really say no to contrasting laces and snow gripping soles that still look good? No. No, you cannot!

Rifle Paper Co. Tapestry iPhone Case will look perfect on my new iPhone. I've been using the same iPhone 6 since we got back to the States and an upgrade is in order. This case is so stunning and symmetrical and beautiful, that I decided to get a black phone expressly for this case!

Ugg Andi Slippers in grey will replace my beloved Ugg Andi slippers in black that I totally destroyed from loving and wearing them so much. These slippers have leather soles and a sheepskin insole and they're so dainty and cozy, they make any freezing winter morning that much more appealing. Stocks are getting really low everywhere, but they're still available here and here. I'm so glad Coco and Theo already ordered mine last week! ;)

Le Labo Santal 33 was something I was sure could never live up to the hype, but honestly it smells so amazingly good on my skin that now that my little sample has run out, I have to have it. My friend Jackie loves it on me, but can't wear it herself because it just smells like dill weed on her. Word to the wise: If you're interested, try it first because it seems to either be the sexiest, most wonderful scent in the world on some, or like straight up dill weed on others. No in between!

Do you make a big fuss over your birthday, or prefer to let it go by without a lot of fanfare?

PS - My lists from 2016 and 2013. I see a theme emerging! ;)

  1. Love Sorel Boots! I got two pairs this fall for myself with a gas check reimbursement (I use this mostly for mad money) and my husband asked me who the other pair was for! haha
