Amyjo Designs: Upcycled Denim Skirt

Do you have a favorite pair of jeans that you've worn to death? I ruined my Seven Dojo's while I was pregnant and they got holes in the inner thighs and seat because of all the weight I had gained! ;) But thanks to Amyjo Designs, they have been reborn as a cute new mini-skirt. Click on "Read more" below to learn all about upcycling old jeans into new things!
Here I am in my old jeans. I loved those jeans so much. The white stitching on the back pockets was my favorite part about them and thanks to the Belly Belt, I wore those darlings throughout my entire pregnancy! It's true that that's what ruined them, but they were so soft and so comfortable, it was worth it. Even still, I found it impossible to throw them away once they were out of commission. Somehow they seemed like the physical embodiment of all my wonderful pregnancy memories and I couldn't let them go.
Redesigning jeans with Amyjo Designs is a service specifically for loved-but-no-longer-wearable jeans. First I had to decide what I wanted to do with my jeans. The four options are skirt, pillow cover, bag or rug. My jeans would have made a very soft pillow cover and isn't the clutch cute? But in the end, I thought I would get the most use out of a skirt. Plus, I liked the idea that I would still get to wear them.
Amyjo Designs uses all handwoven Asian fabrics along with denim (yours or provided) to create one-of-a-kind pieces of art. While living in Bali, Amyjo fell in love with the culture and art of weaving and made it her mission to bring a little piece of it back with her to the West. The fabrics are an easy pair with denim, which acts as a neutral backdrop to showcase their intricacies.
We are a long way from Bali, but I'm already getting lots of wear out of my skirt. Here I am all hunched up and shivering in Zurich! ;) It's surprisingly comfy with leggings and Uggs, and I can't wait to wear it in Ibiza in May. Amyjo Designs ship worldwide and make it easy to redesign your jeans online, so you can really order from anywhere. A selection of finished designs are also available to browse in her online shop. And if you still don't see what you're looking for, custom designs are available. I am really happy with my jeans-turned-skirt. If you have an old pair of jeans you still love, they may have another life in them, too. ;) Visit Amyjo Designs to learn more.
